What is Reiki?chemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Reiki is a bioenergetic healing technique developed in chemas-microsoft-com:officemarttags" />Japan in the 19th century by Dr. Mikao Usui. It has been practiced in the U.S. since the 1930s. “Rei” means universal life force, and “Ki” means personal energy. In Reiki, the practitioner is a vessel, channeling the universal healing energy into the recipient’s body.

Extensive research shows that Reiki strengthens immunity, relieves pain, and speeds up healing. Reiki is safe enough for babies, pregnant women and elderly people. It is now used in many hospitals, nursing homes, hospices and integrative medical centers around the world.

What happens during a session?

You lie fully clothed on a massage table. I place my hands lightly placed on or above a series of positions on the front and back of your body and synchronize our breaths. We can focus on any areas that you think need healing, as well as places where I intuitively detect imbalances. Your breath slows as you become more deeply relaxed. It is common to feel warmth, cold, tingling or subtle pulsations coming from the my hands. Some people have emotional releases during a treatment, especially if they are facing emotional challenges at the time. Others drift off to asleep or have visions. It is different for everyone.

How will I feel afterwards?

After a treatment, people generally feel a sense of peace and contentment, greater mental clarity, relief from pain they may have been having, and a more positive, balanced outlook.

What can be treated with Reiki?

Reiki is effective for stress, insomnia, PMS, migraines, chronic pain, grieving, depression, anxiety, fatigue, post-surgery, autoimmune disorders, sports injuries, digestive problems, infertility, addictions, ADHD, cancer, fibromyalgia, bipolar disorder and PTSD.

Reiki is an excellent adjunctive therapy to medications, surgery, acupuncture, chiropractic, chemotherapy and psychotherapy. It is beneficial during times of transition, such as moving residence, changing jobs or ending a relationship. It accelerates and supports healing on all levels: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

Energetically speaking…

I believe that most health problems have energetic roots. Sometimes we feel “a little off” and that can be a sign of dis-ease at the superficial level of our energetic field. If left ignored, the feeling can worsen. Reiki can correct any imbalances before they penetrate the physical body and manifest as symptoms.
